MUST SEE:

On the border between Tuscany and Umbria and Lazio, Sarteano is an ideal base for visiting some of the most beautiful villages and towns of Italy. Siena, Perugia, Arezzo, Orvieto gravitate within about 60 km.

In addition, the nearby railway station of Chiusi (11 km.), allows to reach in little more than an hour Florence or Rome.

What can we say about this World Heritage Site called Val d'Orcia? Only a handful of kilometres through hills and beech wood separate it from Sarteano .... and behold Montepulciano, Pienza, San Casciano, San Quirico d'Orcia and the villages of Mount Amiata.

Then if you push towards the breezes laden with salt of the Tyrrhenian Sea, you will see Montalcino and its vineyards.

A look east and you're already on their way to Masolino, Assisi, Spello ... and the feast of onion at Cannara ..... but then you remember that the Madonna del Parto well worth a turn towards Monterchi and then Sansepolcro ....
